Wayang Kulit, "Leather Puppet Theatre", is the most popular type of the traditional Javanese Wayang. Puppets are intricately carved from cow hide, and then painted. The pelt in the lower left-hand corner of the third image is fresh off the back of the neighbor's cat. The puppet makers will paint very detailed designs on the puppet using a single cat hair.

Wayang Golek are three dimentional wooden puppets from Bandung.

Wayang Orang is a theatrical form which uses live people instead of puppets. These pictures show important characters from the Ramayana.
