Blockwatch
South of Main is attempting to file a private nuisance abatement against a landlord -- they don't believe an entity other than the city has ever filed such a claim before.

Dinner in Bexley
Stephanie and Mary Jo

Mary Jo and Mom had been driving around German Village and determined that great-grandfather had retired to 862 Mohawk.

They had also gone to Old Trinity for church, and talked with a woman who had known great-grandfather as the pastor there. Her family had always sat in the first or second pew underneath the pulpit, and great-grandfather had preached in the King James vernacular, saying ofter "verily verily I say to you." The woman's name is Beverly, and she was convinced as a child that he was saying "Beverly Beverly."

Missed the Bexley fireworks
Which were set off early to avoid the thunderstorms

Hung out at Carey's for awhile anyway

Gathering at the house
Carey, Lisa, M&D, Mary Jo, Stephanie, Chris, Amy, eventually David and Yury too

Grilled corn on the cob, potatoes, hamburgers, veggie burgers ...

Impromtu house tour
M&D stopped by with Mary Jo on their way home from the bus terminal

Bexley
Visited with M&D

Took a bottle of wine to Mike & Jen

Red White & Boom
An awful lot of fireworks for an engagement

Took a long time for traffic to clear up (apparently some of the finale had failed to fire, and some roads remained blocked as the bomb squad investigated), so we ended up going straight home instead of to Carey's, as had been planned.

Charlie had been left with Stephanie and Chris and later journeyed to Carey's and back again, in Chris' brand new Saturn.

Business First summer picnic
Got to show off the ring -- everyone was pleased

Engaged!

OTENA Trustees meeting
Someone wants a carwash on Broad St. (and can't understand why the community opposes rezoning it from residential), Michael Ross regained control of his holes in the ground, and the Flats, despite Another recent shooting, is still in residence at Harry's.

Had a Wednesday
To prepare for the holiday

Attempted image appropriation
Need an image? Why not borrow it from the nearest ad? And if you credit it to our staff photographer, then you don't have to worry about copyright either, right?

Not that the story which we hoped to illustrate with this image had Anything at all to do with the building (Sample caption: "Somewhere inside this building may lurk even now some of the people who agreed to purchase this other company out in Iowa whose building we cannot show you, as it is too far away for any of our advertisers to show in any of their ads.").
