WEDDING

A P R I L   3 ,   2 0 0 4

Carsonie's
For dinner with Mike & Jen, Allison & Anneleise, Laurie & Don, Ashley & friend

Requiem rehearsal
With orchestra; we went through it twice. Not bad, though Al is concerned that we keep going flat

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time

But I don't think he would say "try and."
Amy agreed; this had bothered her, too.

I thought on first hearing that the title gave it a humoresque Thurber-inspired feel, but of course not. It's pure (Sherlock) Holmesian.

Pseudo-dinner
Chips salsa & banana pudding.

Amy to Columbus

Managed to sign out the first Lifestyles & Living section
Not enough space, not enough design, but it's out. Better things to come.

Lunch with Andrew Lavinsky
Haven't seen him in many years (we didn't figure out exactly how many)

He is back from China / Mongolia, with a wife and 6-month old daughter.

Thurman Café.

Telephone time
Spent much time on the telephone with a former employee who wouldn't reveal his name to the receptionist. I do not like the telephone, and am not adept at ending telephone conversations gracefully -- thus when the other party is equally incapable (or perhaps unwilling) to end it, the thing becomes grotesque.

Choir rehearsal
Still too agitated from the day's deadlines to properly concentrate. I missed most of the cutoffs, which Rutter placed nearly always on the & of the beats, requiring extra attention.

Aggravating deadlines
After an hour-long all-staff meeting, we were reminded that a publication deadlined this evening. Having been working under the assumption that it deadlined Friday, we were in no position to get it out soon. I had to leave for choir at 7:30, but the others lasted until 9 getting it wrapped up.

Long day at the office
Unpleasant.

Couldn't sleep at night.

Cleaned out the garage
Or at least, cleaned it up a little. There is now room to walk on either side of the car.

The Devils
Fyodor Dostoesvky
| Powells.com

Difficult to get into; by page 75 there was the barest hint of a plot.

Amy stayed home
Still not feeling well

Everyone was back in the office; everyone was busy with numerous projects

Justification through faith alone
Pastor Hudson preached a very Lutheran sermon and pleased M & G greatly.

The congregation sang fromvthe hymnal, and then the choir sang during the offertory. Just to reënforce the message.

Bexley afterward.

A new hibiscus bloom has opened to replace Friday's. Spent the day cleaning up the back garden (as yesterday).
