WEDDING

M A Y   2 2 ,   2 0 0 4

Home in Akron.
Admired the new siding, weeded the marsh, addressed wedding invitations.

To Akron

Thunderstorms again.
Severe thunderstorms and hail on the drive north.

M A Y   2 0 ,   2 0 0 4

Choir rehearsal.
Bexley afterwards.

Office party.
At Gordon Biersch.

I didn't feel very well and didn't want to go, but I had a decent time.

M A Y   1 9 ,   2 0 0 4

Very frustrating deadline day.
Stories were all late and lacking in art. Or, alternatively, flush with art that was presented at 4 p.m. with hours of work necessary to prepare it.

M A Y   1 8 ,   2 0 0 4

Thunderstorms again.
One with pouring rain at the office while there was nothing but blue skies out the window.

Thunder shook the house, water filled the streets, and lightening lit up the dark night over and over again.

Finished Dostoevsky's The Idiot. Began the Piano Tuner.

Worked on a painting. Emailed wedding maps to Amy.

I still need a piano tuner myself.

Jeff may be able to get to the porch roof next week.

Janet was over today shooting an illustration for HomeFront -- people who (illegally) rent out office space from their homes. Being (generally) illegal, we couldn't really find someone willing to open their home to our cameras, so we put an "Office Space for Rent" sign in the door for a few photos.

G's house may have sold; waiting for definite news.

ABOVE Thunderstorms approach. From the southwest. The distant rumbling of the thunder sounded first; then the darkness of the skies became apparent. Then the rain started, gentle at first, increasing, stronger, and finally torential. Then the lightening broke and the storm was upon us. Another one struck around 10.

Blue flowers
Are hard to photograph ... said the wedding florist. I concur -- it is always difficult to capture them.

ABOVE Failure. Not only does the color of the forget-me-nots vanish, but the automatic focus seems unable to even locate the flowers. s

Amy to Akron

ABOVE From Allison.

Lunch at First Watch (German Village).
Which now compares favorably to the First Watch in Florida. With Amy, Amy's Mother, Jen, Anneleise and Allison.

Amy's birthday.
More ballet to come.

Eventually decided to venture out for Mexican food for dinner. It was Sunday, after all, and thus not ideal for patronizing an exclusive restaurant. We'll have to get to Taverna Opa again soon.

Tour of Homes.
Made it to through a several of the homes after Kevin and his finace were here to look through the house. They are looking for somewhere to buy a house, and stopped by on their way to the the tour. I said we would have to invite them over again later, when Amy was available, when the hospitality at the house would be so much greater.

Amy and I made it to a few more of the houses on the tour later on, dragging Charlie along for the walk, too. We alternated waiting outside with him, except for the house on Franklin that Lisa and her husband were volunteering at, and they offered to watch him while we went through the house.

We both made it through the neon house, a large Bryden Road home that had been made into a retrospective of the work of the artist (primarily in neon) who had lived there until her death a year ago.

Wedding shower.
For Amy at Aunt Bette's. She enjoyed it, and came home with quite a few presents (unfortunately, many in the not-blue category).

Amy to Columbus.

Come to the Water.
Reprise from last week's anthem, which I missed as I was out of town. This week the choir sang at the 8:30 service, which is just so early.

I'm not sure what it is about this song, but it hits me (and others -- it gets many comments) in the heart.

And let all who have nothing
let them come to the Lord

Asked Bea if she would be the organist at our wedding.
