WEDDING

J U N E    1 2 ,   2 0 0 4

ABOVE Sundrops. From the back garden.

Successful movie-going attempt
To see the third Harry Potter

Aborted movie-going attempt
Harry Potter was derailed by a power outage in the Arena District

Ring shopping
Arlington, Tuttle (first visit ever, to the best of my recollection)

J U N E    1 1 ,   2 0 0 4

ABOVE Lavender. From the back garden.

Choir party
For which the storms held themselves at bay.

Amy to Columbus

J U N E    1 0 ,   2 0 0 4

ABOVE The arbor. Re-lit.

Libel seminar
Good to have reënforced: Truth is always a defense against libel or defamation claims.

"False light" claims are a growing threat to journalists, however. Not yet recognized as a valid claim in Ohio, but the lawsuits get filed anyway.

And when else could we more need good journalists ...
Than when government lawyers decide the president is not bound by laws, the constitution, nor duly signed and enacted treaties, but is perfectly free to go off and order people tortured whenever he deems it necessary.

J U N E    9 ,   2 0 0 4

ABOVE The front porch. Jeff started work this week on reshingling and repairing a couple of the underlying boards that had rotted out.

A Way in the World
V.S. Naipaul

I had read this once before, (it conjures memories of lying on the front deck of the Bayliner in Minnesota, propped up on flotation cushions with the hatch open into the cabin), and was not impressed.

I got a lot more out of it this time.

J U N E    8 ,   2 0 0 4

ABOVE Spirea. As it was cut back a weekend ago. Out of control, it deserved its decimation.

Subpoena-ed.
The justice system in all its majesty has chosen the week of my honeymoon to try one of the guys they caught in April in my recently carjacked car.

J U N E    7 ,   2 0 0 4

ABOVE Roses. The first big bloom is fading.

J U N E    6 ,   2 0 0 4

ABOVE Trimmed. Not beautifully, perhaps, but trimmed.

Until the iBook's hard drive stopped spinning correctly ...
It had been a good day, and not a bad weekend.

I needed the time by myself, responsible only to me, so that whatever it was that I did or failed to do, I wouldn't feel (if only for a little while), that I had let someone down.
