Deadline day
And later than I would have liked, but at home the pizza was good and I got in a little piano playing (which was not so good, but slightly better than the day before).

Intertwining
We began slowly, tentatively.
A part of the same world, but not yet each other's.
I wanted to speak out, draw him out.
But his way
is the deliberateness of art.
Silently studied and formed;
words, when spoken, well-considered.

She is the music of an Impromptu,
Deep, entrancing moods.
Peaceful. Beautiful.
Then vibrant -- filled with energy, strength. Joy.

Gently tended, it grew.
I took a step, planted the seed --
His affirmation drew the sprout to life.
So nurtured, the branches of our lives slowly vined, entwined.

In silent companionship, in easy discussion,
we walk our neighborhoods, parks.
We relax -- absorbed in pencil or book
content, to be together.

When did I know for sure?
My life's direction was unfolding.
I was hesitant, deciding.
He said, "We'll make it work."

She drew me.

And I knew.
I and he had become We. And it was right.

She is the harmony of my soul.

Our separate selves intertwining have become one.

-- Lisa Jo Sandeen

Convergence
Leaving work, sirens wailed from all directions and converged on the Belmont building right behind ours. Things seemed to slow from there, and I never saw any sign of an actual fire, but four trucks, a fire marshall, and an ambulance all showed up to check it out.

Clockings
We found and wound more clocks. That might keep accurate time.

Then again, they might not. And that would be OK, too.

Charlie has definitely figured out the garage door -- he often sits in the room above the garage where the Charlie-size windows mean he has a perfect view stretched out on the floor, and the sound of the garage door opening is both loud and rattling from just atop it. The car goes in and I come out the other end, to a waiting Charlie who has raced downstairs to get outside to the garage door.

Amy was very gracious and put the air conditioner on for me as the temperature got above 80 for the first time in several days.

3rd weekend in a row at home
The house is looking so much more cared for. Times more than two since there are two of us.

Cleaned up the front, raked leaves, cut back the myrtle, chopped some ivy from the back fence (ended up with five huge vases full of dramatic sprays, and still threw away a yard bag full -- there is more to come off yet, but that took care of some of the most egregious branches), swept the walk, weeded under the trees, and we finally put up the ? so the porch swing works better.

Reattached the furnace to the gas line after finding a workable tool (in Bexley) -- that annoying gas smell seems to be gone.

We switched beds among rooms and other rooms -- the bed in the front room went to our room, the bed we had been sleeping on became the guest bed. Without the second box springs that we are storing in that room -- we decided it was just too tall a bed with both, so the spare box springs (covered with a spare blanket) became a makeshift headboard.

With the bed out of the front room and my computer desk moved in, I actually have space to work from -- with a little more arranging, it will be great. It's wonderful as it is.

Soft tacos for dinner, a very good Sunday meal.
