Via Colori
Worked from 9:30 to 6
Gallery | Portrait of an alphabet in blue

I had decided on the sweep of the "A" Friday night; I had settled on beginning the work with white and blue and adding color from there, as necessary.

Struggled with the "R" (I don't like the letter), not thrilled with the "K," but I liked the "I." The grey on black worked better than I hoped, and leaving the orangeand yellow backgrounds unsmoothed preserved the texture of the road and and gave an added depth to the work.

All squares were sponsored by an organization or company. Some of the sponsors applied with artists (I applied with Business First as my sponsor), some were assigned artists. Kevlin asked what would happen if a right-wing organization were assigned a very left-wing artist?

The Fourth Avenue Church sponsored a square -- the artwork advocated same-sex marriage. By Sunday, Fourth Avenue Church had been reassigned a new (larger) square, and different artists. The artwork they ended the festival sponsoring was quite uncontroversial.

Amy was concerned by a "Victorian Village Residence for Kerry" sign. She hadn't thought the buildings would have such strong opinions.

Via Colori artists reception
At the Hampton Inn across from the convention center

Went with Amy; we enjoyed the Italian desserts.

Short excursion
For Book of Lists photography

Before we could leave, we had to try to get a handle on the onslaught of photo requests that have been poorly planned

Amy's day of rest
No school.

Choir rehearsal
Bexley afterwards.

Amy's early day home from school
And we had a real dinner, pasta and lettuce salad, all before choir.

Even with Charlie's trip to the vet -- to ask about ragweed allergies.

ABOVE AND BELOW Oversize load. Across from the office on Nationwide Boulevard. The convoy was preparing (which mostly seemed to involve standing around) to depart.

Shower curtain
Drops from 6 hangers nested together on each rung. Amy got most of it done; I finished up a little bit while she read papers.

Errands
Took the World Harvest bread to the food pantry, shirts to the cleaners, I think there must have been something else.

20th Anniversary supplement to press
Much work, much bother

But it should be good.

That was virtually the only thing on the agenda for the day -- I left early for the office, dashed home for a lunch break to let Charlie out (didn't get anything to eat), hurried back and stayed late.

Amy was preparing homemade pizza when I got home; we ate, I played the piano a little, and we went to bed.

Night work
At the paper on the 20th Anniversary supplement. I came home too early to really have a good handle on it, but I was ready to come home and go to bed.

Charlie gets a t-shirt
So that he might perhaps itch less. A good shirt except for the unfortunately spelled "it's" where it ought to be "its".

Dinner at Mike & Jen's
Allison & Anneliese decide that every single hair barrett they can find would look good on me, all together at the same time.

A Communion Invitation
Sang the choir

George Schuliger talked about the needs of the food pantry -- a good place to take the World Harvest bread.
